Upon graduation from the University of Miami School of
Law, Michelle entered into general practice where she gained experience in commercial
litigation, real estate law and real estate-related litigation, as well as in marital
and family law.
In 1987, she founded Michelle A. Pivar, P.A., which concentrates
its practice in the area of marital and family law.
Michelle currently serves on the Executive Council of The Florida
Bar's Family Law Section, and on The Florida
Bar Family Law Rules Committee. Her article on transferring real
property by final judgment in dissolution actions was published
in the Family Law Commentator. She revised the chapter on Marital
Settlement Agreements in The Florida Bar's 6th edition of Drafting
Marriage Contracts in Florida.
During her professional career Michelle has been:
- Chair of the 11th Judicial Circuit Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee
- Served on the Florida Bar Judicial Administration, Selection and Tenure Committee
- Serves on the Dade County Bar Association Professionalism and Family Law Committees
Michelle has been a presenter in the Florida Bar seminar on "Practicing with
Professionalism," and in the Family Law Section's seminar on "Family Law Trial
of the 21st Century." She is a member of the South Miami-Kendall Bar Association
(president for the 2004-2005 term), and a member of Attorneys' Real Estate Council of Dade
County (president for the 2005 term), and has been admitted to The First Family Law
American Inn of Court.
